some possible explanations for the requested items.

Why Crayola?? The other crayons are terrible. They are very waxy and tend to break much easier. When it comes to art supplies, crayola products are worth the extra cost.

All that glue?? Because it is cheap now and they won't have to ask for more when it is over $1.00 a bottle. It is easier for teachers to store the extra supplies now.

The open house requests are usually 'wish list' type items. Things that each child doesn't need, but a small supply will help the class.

That is cute --- my dd is going to kindergarten this year & our list looks about the same as yours! Crayola as well! Like the $5 party money... our list says "Teachers may ask for additional items at open house" Why can't they list all of it? Good Luck!!!

I remember going shopping for school supplies. I would get exactly what was on my list; at the end of the school year, about half of it had been used. By the time I got to college, I had a huge box of unused school supplies, as I went shopping for precisely what was asked for every year.

As for the crayons, perhaps one is a separate box for art class or something such thing.
