How is this even fair? Teresa Guidice (whom I admittedly have never heard of before. I don’t have cable, remember?) filed bankruptcy and owes 11 million dollars. 11 million. So, rich and famous people still get to be rich and famous even when they owe more money than a small country.

Even worse, instead of having to endure the humility and embarrassment of filing bankruptcy that the rest of us have to go through, famous folks get to actually tell their stories and make more money to waste.

I would’ve given People magazine an interview for $50 and I don’t even owe anywhere near 11 million. I’m just sayin’.

Furthermore, how do you even get to be in debt by 11 million dollars? Most of the time creditors start laughing at you when you’re a few thousand in debt. They had an annual family income of $79,000.00. Are you kidding? That’s me and another average adult. Yes, I need a loan for 11 mil please.

Why. Why. And Why. I don’t get it. I don’t mean to sound overly critical of Ms. Guidice but I really cannot wrap my mind around how this could’ve happened. I understand her part, I know full well how easy it is to spend money I don’t have. I don’t understand everyone else’s part though. I almost want to laugh at the creditors that extended the credit and now will probably not receive anything.

Except laughing at people is not nice. I wonder what kinds of things famous people cut out of their budgets when they file bankruptcy.

I bet it isn’t cable. I bet they don’t give up fancy deli lunches or overpriced lattes. I bet they don’t have to look for a part time job. I’m just guessing.

What do you think?

Besides the obvious differences between rich people and poor people (meaning designer clothes, fancy houses and luxury vehicles) there is another difference. Do rich people lack honesty?

Take Sammy Sosa for example. He and his wife show up at some kind of gathering which I’m guessing consisted of other rich and famous people, not only in fancy designer clothing, but Mr. Sosa’s skin was actually a whole race lighter. I mean like Michael Jackson lighter. So much lighter, he looks a lot like Eddie Munster.

Friends and family are saying the pictures look way more dramatic and that in person, it wasn’t a big deal. Do you know what would happen if I showed up at a family gathering with a completely different skin color? My grandma would ask me what the hell is wrong with me, my parents would ask if I’m okay and all of the nephews would be laughing at how funny Auntie looks. No one would be acting like they didn’t notice or like it wasn’t a big deal.

I have often wondered with celebrities like Donald Trump and his obnoxious comb-over (and now Sammy Sosa’s phantom skin color change) if no one in their lives loves them enough to tell them the truth. That my friends is the biggest difference between the rich and the poor, them and us. Our families and friends don’t care if they hurt our feelings. If it looks ridiculous they’re not going to let you be seen with them looking ridiculous without a reasonable explanation.

Sammy Sosa’s skin care change has been explained as some kind of skin rejuvenation process he’s going through, others have speculated that it’s because of steroid use. Whatever the case, it only proves my point further. 1. Only a rich person would pay for a skin rejuvenation process that turns out like that, and 2. someone somewhere knows for certain if it’s caused by steroid use and no one’s saying anything because after all, it’s Sammy Sosa.

In the end, I’d be interested in the real cause of the skin color change. My opinion doesn’t matter much, after all I’m a broke, single mother, blogger. If getting ahead means losing the honesty of the people who are important to me though, I’ll pass.

(Note: thanks mom for telling me when I was 18 how stupid I looked with my nose pierced…)

In case, for some reason you haven’t heard, Richard Heene and his wife Mayumi decided to drum up publicity for a reality show by claiming their child, Falcon, had been trapped in a runaway balloon.

Oddly, a lot of people believed it at first. I’m no liar but if I told people my daughter was flying through the air in a giant balloon, no one would believe me. I’m actually a pretty credible person, to tell you the truth, yet I can’t really think of one person I know, friend or family that would believe that story. Laugh, maybe. Maybe even tell me, “you’re so crazy,” but help me chase down the balloon? I don’t think so.

It seems that everyone wants to be a reality star. We have so many people that are famous for no reason except for being on a reality show that maybe in times like these it appears to be the only hope. Has everyone forgotten that there are better ways to make money? Whatever happened to good old blood donation when things get too hard? Even better, remember when people would get a part time job when they needed a few extra dollars? I would think that people would take a look at situations like Jon & Kate Gosselin and the Heene family and realize that sometimes, especially when kids are involved, being a reality tv star might not be worth it.

Unfortunately, in the end, the Heene’s may get what they wanted. Even if they have to go to prison for a little bit, I’m sure a handful of money making opportunities are beatin down their door. Not only will they get a reality show, but what about a book or movie covering what a dysfunctional family really looks like? Poor Falcon Heene will be Balloon Boy for the rest of his life and famous for something worse than being a reality television star. He’ll be famous for being the child of a couple of nutballs.

Good luck, Balloon Boy…

I read this article at the Huffington Post website about the guy suing Bank of America for a $1,784 billion trillion dollars. Yes, that is the number that Dalton Chiscolm came up with for his pain in suffering from which I’m still not sure of.

No, he isn’t trying to just prove a point like Ann Minch, the lady that ranted on Youtube about the interest rate on her credit card. Mr. Dalton Chiscolm may possibly believe that he has a chance at getting that $1,784 billion trillion dollars from Bank of America, because after all they did fold and lower Ms. Minch’s interest rate. Yes, I’m hatin on Ms. Minch, simply because a) I’m jealous that I didn’t think of it. b) I’m way too camera shy to post a video on the internet and c) I wasn’t successful at getting my interest rates lowered with Chase.

Sadly, by Mr. Chiscolm’s language from a previous lawsuit against a landlord for $892 million billion dollars, I think this is just someone who may have other issues. Gotta love our country though for the right to file any kind of lawsuit, no matter how insane it may sound. This is a quote from Mr. Chiscolm’s January complaint against his landlord according to Westlaw.

“…I complane to manerment….4 times she never gave-a responds…I could never live like a human bean they did eve thing…”

He subsequently filed a “Mosion to Mode a Fide” which the Court interpreted as a Motion to Amend. Yes, I think this is funny. Most of all, I think it’s admirable that someone would believe in something so strongly that they’d file a lawsuit like this, by themselves without the aid of an attorney or even anyone that uses proper spelling and grammar. To me, it’s even more admirable and way braver than Ms. Minch’s video.

Do you think she’s wondering if she should’ve asked for more now?

Unfortunately, the Judge in Mr. Chiscolm’s lawsuit described the complaint as incomprehensible. I’m with this writer on this one. What’s so hard to understand? He wants $1,784 billion trillion dollars deposited into his ATM account.

Give the man his money, B of A. Or does he have to make a video?

Have a great weekend all. Here’s to having enough nerve to get what we want. I’m learning…

Operation WITHIMMG: Day 4- $0 spent
Day 5 – <del datetime="2009-09-28T23:56:26+00:00">$0 spent so far…will update if I go on a spending spree tonight</del>.)
Expenses I forgot for Day 5- Nicotine Gum $22 (got a $5 coupon to use next time.)
juice and bagel Chips $8
stuffed dog for boss’s visiting grandson $5
in the evening after my post:
pizza, cake and DVD for daughter $18.65
  Total spent Day 5: $53.65…..ouch.

Holy cow, at first glance one would think this has to be a mistake. Apparently, Michael Jackson’s credit score was only an average of 564. After thinking about it though, it makes sense.

First of all, Michael Jackson didn’t need credit. People gave him stuff just for being the King of Pop. I’m guessing that MJ probably had no clue what a FICO score was, nor did he care. Yet, if he wanted credit, he definitely wouldn’t have any problem getting it. Even after all the debt is cleared, his estate is still worth more than I might see in 4 Miss Bankrupt lifetimes.

Second, who in their right mind ever considered pulling a credit report (until now, of course). Are there any creditors out there that would’ve told him, “Sorry Mr. Jackson. We can’t give you King Tut’s intestine because your credit sucks? Uh, no. Everyone knew he was good for it.

If anything, this should give those of us with less than stellar credit scores a little hope. Maybe there is a halfway decent life out there for us regardless of what FICO says. At the end of the day, as long as our children are taken care of and not left with a burden of our own debt, then maybe we can stop freaking out about our FICO scores and worry less.

I don’t know. Still feels good to say it though. I might be broke, but my credit score is still better than Michael Jackson’s.

No disrespect or anything. God knows, there isn’t too much I can do better than Michael Jackson…well except dancing. I’m probably a better dancer…
